General Weight Loss Tips

There comes a time in almost everyone’s life when you need to lose a few pounds, but there is no need to starve yourself just to lose the excess weight. There are so many diets on the market today, which promise easy weight loss, but are they actually healthy? More than likely not! If you are the type of person that is looking to lose weight in a healthy way, then you are reading the right information. Below is a healthy weight loss diet that does work no matter your age or gender.

Drink water and eat apples

Try to drink at least one glass of water before every meal. Drinking water before you eat anything will limit the amount of food that you can consume. You will already feel full from the water and therefore eat less than you normally would. Apples have the same effect as water does and is also a healthy snack to nibble on in between meals.

Lower your sodium intake

Try to limit the amount of salt you eat. Use herbs to season your food with instead of salt. Avoid all processed foods; most of them contain large amounts of sodium and sugar – both of which are bad for losing weight. Check the labels on sauce bottles, salad dressings and so forth before buying them. Many of these products may say that they are low-fat, but will still contain a lot of salt.

Lemon juice

Adding a few drops of lemon juice to a cup of hot water each morning will actually, over time, shrink your stomach. Take store bought lemon juice with to work and drink a cup of warm water with lemon juice in it twice a day. You will notice in a few days that you will automatically eat less food and will therefore start losing the weight.

Alcohol

Alcohol generally contains a lot of sugar. Try to avoid alcoholic beverages completely, but if you are going to take a drink or two, try to rather have a glass of red wine instead of beer or spirits. Spirits contain a lot of sugar and so does the mix that you use.

Coffee and tea

If you just cannot see yourself avoiding coffee or tea, then you should replace the sugar that you would normally use with honey. Honey is a natural sweetener and a lot healthier than refined sugar or brown sugar.

Steam your food

Steam your vegetables, fish and chicken. Not only is steaming food the most effective way of keeping in all the nutrients, it is also the best way to ensure that you do not have to use any oil or butter during the cooking process.

Choose white meat rather than red meat

Any type of red meat contains more fat than white meat. Try to eat tuna fish, filleted chicken breasts or turkey instead of lamb, beef and so forth. Canned fish is extremely healthy and high in Omega 3 and 6, which can actually help with weight loss. Try a fresh green salad with tuna flakes, boiled egg and balsamic dressing – it is divine, good for the hips and extremely healthy.

A healthy snack

Banana chips: A naturally sweet treat that the whole family will love, and it is super easy to make this recipe.

Dessert

Who says that you cannot have dessert when you are on a diet? It is a myth and we are about to prove to you that you can in fact enjoy something sweet, but without the sugar that is normally added.
